Hundreds showed their dedication for finding a cure for diabetes at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s annual Walk to Cure Diabetes. The foundation had a goal to raise $300,000 dollars to find a cure. A little over $256,000 was raised so far.

Ten-year-old Maddie McElroy was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes three years ago. Someday, she said she wants to live a normal life. Family and friends joined “Team Maddie” to support her as they walked for a cure.

“It makes me happy, and I’m overjoyed about it because people who don’t have it  really want to help us. It just makes me really excited to know that one day I might get a cure for this disease,” said McElroy.

The KDLT News Team was also their to show their support. News Director and Anchor Paul Heinert and Chief Meterologist Cody Matz, along with bunch of others, made up the KDLT Krushers.
