Four years ago Nick Jonas the youngest of the Jonas Brothers came forward and announced he had Type 1 Diabetes at the Carnival for a Cure.  And this year he is returning to the venue to bring the spotlight to something that rests very close to his heart.

The 18 year old was diagnosed with diabetes when he was thirteen and he usually wears an OmniPad insulin pump to manage his condition.  He even has developed the Change for the Children Foundation which raises money and awareness for diabetes.  Nick also went on Rachael Ray in February to talk about his condition and how he found out something was wrong.  It was actually his mother who noticed that he had dropped fifteen pounds in two weeks of touring and was drinking a lot of fluids.  For those of you that don’t know Type 1 diabetes is lack of insulin that can lead to an increase in glucose levels and it is fatal if not treated properly.

The Carnival for a Cure is taking place at the Metropolitan Pavilion in the Chelsea section of Manhattan.  The carnival with feature lively entertainment, delicious food, games for kids to teens, super prizes and a silent auction with all proceeds going to research.  And you can check out Nick’s first appearance at the Carnival for a Cure.
