Here’s our Monday blog post for the T1 Diabetes Cure- Global Headquarters where we take a step back and put the JDCA research reports and analysis into perspective.

Happy April!

My past few blog posts here at T1 Diabetes Cure Global Headquarters have gone into detail about the JDCA’s latest research reports.

This week, I thought it would be a good idea to take a step back and put all of this research and analysis into context.  Why does the JDCA publish research reports?  And what can donors take from them?

The JDCA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is dedicated to focusing research toward a type 1 cure.  We are not a scientific institution and do not conduct any research nor do we handle donations.

Our reports are researched and written by our Director of Research Analysis, Peter Miselis, who is a financial analyst.  The JDCA reports take a business-like approach to the type 1 diabetes charitable universe and investigate the operations of the charities in order to identify the obstacles and challenges that stand in the way of maximizing donor contributions toward a type 1 cure.

So, the reports are intended to give donors a better understanding of how their contributions are being used and the relationship between the charities and research.  We believe that this information will empower donors to make more informed decisions on how to direct their contributions toward a type 1 cure.

The JDCA is building an Alliance to create a unified voice to ensure that the intentions of diabetes donors are heard.  We believe that an Alliance of passionate donors can concentrate resources and efforts toward projects that can develop a Practical Cure in a time frame relevant for people now living with type 1 diabetes.

Do you give with the intention of contributing toward cure research?  Do you want to ensure that this intention is heard?  If you want to be an active JDCA Alliance member help us by:

  • Share our website and mission with anyone whose life has been affected by type 1
  • Encourage family, friends, colleagues, and everyone you know to SIGN UP to become a member
  • Read our reports to stay informed
  • Ask questions to learn about how your donation is being used
  • Use our Donor Action Letter to specify that you want your donation to be used solely toward projects that are working towards a type 1 cure

Please email us at info@thejdca.org with any questions.
