HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) –

The 21st annual Tour de Cure was held at the Henderson Events Plaza on Saturday to raise money for a diabetes cure.

Take 5 to Care supported and attended the American Diabetes Association event with Fox 5’s Monica Jackson as a special guest emcee.

Tour de Cure featured bike rides from 15 to 100 miles through Lake Mead National Recreation Area and a red rider jersey giveaway to those bicyclists living with the disease.

Diabetes is the fastest growing disease in America, affecting one in three children born after the year 2000 and killing more people annually than breast cancer and AIDS combined. The CDC announced that almost 26 million Americans now have the disease and an extra 79 million are projected to have the disease within the next ten years.
