DENVER, Apr 26, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) —
The
American Diabetes Association is dedicated to preventing and curing
diabetes and improving the lives of all people affected by the disease.
Inspirato enriches people’s lives by opening doors to luxury travel
opportunities. The two organizations have joined forces to provide a new
source of sustainable funds to fight for those affected by diabetes, a
disease that affects nearly 26 million children and adults in the United
States.
Inspirato’s Inspired
Giving program was designed to help charitable organizations
like the American Diabetes Association raise funds in a new way. Through
this relationship, donors who contribute $2,000 to the Association
through the new Inspired Giving online
platform will gain select access to Inspirato’s club-managed
portfolio of vacation
residences and unparalleled personal vacation services in locations
ranging from California and Colorado to Hawaii and Mexico.
The Inspired Giving donation model benefits the Association in a
number of ways:
—
For every $2,000 donated to the Association through Inspirato’s Inspired
Giving website,
the donor gains one-time access to an Inspirato luxury vacation —
priced at up to 50 percent under market value — without having to pay
the $15,000 Inspirato membership fee.
—
Inspirato will make Inspired Giving vacation experiences
available that the Association can auction to raise funds at select
“Father of the Year” award events in June. These events honor fathers
for their commitment to the diabetes cause in their communities and
for serving as role models in the fight against diabetes.
—
For every new Inspirato membership that is generated from an
Association donation through Inspirato’s Inspired Giving, the
company gives $2,000 to the Association.
Funds raised will be allocated to continuing the Association’s mission.
Its primary areas of focus include funding research, providing services
and community programs, generating education and awareness about
diabetes, and pursuing advocacy initiatives that give a voice to those
denied their rights because of diabetes.
“Our alliance with Inspirato gives consumers a new and special way to
engage with us and the diabetes cause, and strengthens our relationship
with supporters,” said Larry Hausner, MBA, chief executive officer,
American Diabetes Association. “Providing a totally different experience
that our constituents can create and enjoy — like a luxury Inspirato
vacation with family and friends — is a great way to mix up and
diversify the opportunities for donors to support our work.”
For decades, the Association has been reaching those living with
diabetes, those at risk and those unaware they’re affected by diabetes
by building relationships in communities around the country. The
organization’s impact is felt by people like Sara D., who said this
about her daughter Molly: “I thought diabetes only affected older,
heavier people. But after first dismissing our three-year-old Molly’s
frequent urination and extreme thirst, I noticed her acting a bit
lifeless at church one night and told our pediatrician. After several
days in ICU, we learned Molly had type 1 diabetes. But we also heard
about Camp Rainbow, a camp for children with diabetes, a ray of sunshine
in a dark time. I knew when Molly turned four, she could go to Camp
Rainbow. I registered both Molly and her older sister. The day I got an
acceptance email from our local American Diabetes Association office, it
truly made my day. I’m so excited that Molly can attend with other
children who have diabetes.”
For the Association’s supporters, the donation and vacation booking
experience is simple: the donor is given access to Inspirato’s Inspired
Giving exclusive web portal,
www.inspiredgiving.com ;
selects the American Diabetes Association as the charitable organization
of choice; and makes a tax-deductible donation of $2,000. That donor is
then able to book a vacation to a luxury
Inspirato destination and enjoy all that Inspirato members enjoy,
including: personalized service from an Inspirato vacation advisor, an
on-site destination concierge, and luxurious accommodations ranging from
intimate, couples-only, one-bedroom retreats to large, well-appointed
homes in excess of 3,000 square feet.
“At Inspirato, we provide travel opportunities to experience the world,”
said Jackie Benton, executive director of Inspirato’s Inspired Giving.
“Through our Inspired Giving platform, supporters of the American
Diabetes Association will have access to our luxury travel portfolio and
the knowledge that they are providing year-round support for the
Association and the millions of people who are living with diabetes.”
