Hello and Happy New Year to everyone on Diabetes Daily!
The start of a new year always brings changes and resolutions, and what bigger pledge to make than to fight for a cure for type 1 diabetes? It has been a bit less than a century since insulin was discovered, and although science and medicine had progressed a lot, a cure is still not on the horizon.
But first, a little bit about our organization, The Juvenile Diabetes Cure Alliance (JDCA): We are a unique kind of type 1 non-profit organization, as we do not do scientific research ourselves, but evaluate the other charity foundations, publish free reports on where the donation money is going, and inform the community of the latest diabetes news and who the most effective organizations are. Some have described us as a “watchdog” of sorts, but we like to think of ourselves more as an independent advocate – our main goal is to help the organizations find a practical cure for diabetes. The problem is that often the money donated towards cure research gets spread apart and only a fraction of it goes into the research labs, which is what we strive to change by getting the donors to speak up. We believe that a cure is possible, but we really need to use the momentum and not let it slip away. You can read more about us on our official site: http://www.thejdca.org/faq
We do not handle donations of any kind, our goal is simply to represent the diabetes community as best we can and stand up for our common interests, such as the search for a cure. The more voices we get, the more effective of a platform we can build. That is why we are building a strong alliance, and why we need you to be apart of it – all we need is your name and email so we can send you our free newsletters and future reports: Join the Alliance

With your support, we can push for the foundations to adopt a more focused approach towards a type 1 diabetes cure, and really make a big difference this year.
