The “Journey to a Cure” for Juvenile Diabetes, Demands “Full Combat”!
(PRWEB) September 2, 2004
Juvenile Diabetes is a serious illness that affects a staggeringly large percentage of children per year. Commonly known as Type I Diabetes, it’s onset of symptoms and severity of symptoms, as well as the ravages of the disease over time are greater than those of Type II Diabetes, which generally afflicts adults only.
Although Type I Diabetes is controlled routinely by insulin, there is, at this time, NO CURE, and children afflicted with this disease suffer many physical, psychological and emotional consequences as a result of the disease. The daily challenges are numerous: daily injections that may be painful, the constant feeling of living in dread, the unending dietary restrictions, and sometimes unpredictable episodes of fluctuating blood sugar levels which can be life threatening.
In addition to the daily challenges, longer-term effects of the disease are both frightening and severe. These include: Retinopathy, an eye disorder which can lead to blindness, Neuropathy, nerve damage which can lead to the loss of limbs by amputation because of the onset of gangrene, Nephropathy, which is kidney disease, and Cardiovascular diseases, mainly Coronary Heart Disease and Hypertension (high blood pressure).
All in all, children afflicted with Juvenile Diabetes, although living longer, fuller lives now, still face a life of significant, lifelong challenges. That’s the BAD NEWS!
However, the GOOD NEWS is that a “cure” for this horrendous disease is on the horizon! Thanks to decades upon decades of research, scientists are predicting that there will be a cure for this disease in the near future. The only drawback in this “journey to a cure” is, as is oftentimes the case, the necessary funding to effectively complete the research and development of a cure.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is wholeheartedly devoted to raising the funding necessary for a cure to be established, and we are supporting this foundation by our efforts in promoting this wonderful “cause” and of course, the “cure”.

To this end, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is partnering with FullCombat.com, and it’s owner, Mike Minutillo, who will be participating in a fundraising walk to raise money for the foundation in honor of Gwendolyn Ann Paseka, a sufferer of this type of Diabetes. FullCombat.com, and Mike Minutillo, are proponents of physical health, so this of course, is a cause that is indeed, close to Mike’s heart.
Mike, along with many, many others, will be participating in this walk, October 3, 2004, in Connecticut, and each “walker” is raising money in honor of a “special child” and team. Gwendolyn was stricken with the disease at the tender age of five, and she is very near and dear to Mike’s heart, as she’s the daughter of a friend of Mike.
We would encourage everyone reading this to participate in this more than worthy cause. If you can’t “walk” for the foundation, you can send donations directly to the foundation at:
http://walk.jdrf.org/walker.cfm?id=85832427
All donations are welcomed, no matter how large or how small, and the benefits you receive will be in knowing that you’ve helped to bring the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation closer to a cure!
Our overall goal of the event is to raise eighty million dollars for research into a cure for Juvenile Diabetes, and every penny we can amass is greatly appreciated. Every cent will be spent towards a cure and will put a smile on the face of a child suffering from Juvenile Diabetes sometime soon!
So give what you can today, and help the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and FullCombat.com, vanquish this horrible disease once and for all.
