Dr. Oz has assembled a team of four doctors to talk about a new approach to treating and curing disease today. It is called functional medicine and the guest doctors are Dr. Mark Hyman, Dr. Wendy Warner, Dr. David Perlmutter, and Dr. Susan Blum. Functional medicine is a new trend that actually looks at a person’s overall health and treats multiple diseases at once instead of the old cookie cutter approach where each symptom was a different problem. This show was originally aired on January 13 of this year and you can see our full recap by clicking the link at the bottom of this page.
Taking diabetes as a talking point. One of the most informative things functional medicine does is also check for other things like high blood pressure. It used to be you would have a pill for the high blood pressure and maybe an injection for diabetes. What this new approach does is look for ways to treat both at the same time. If you have developed diabetes because you are overweight and have high blood pressure, then trying to lower your weight will help lower your blood pressure and also has a dramatic effect on the way the body uses insulin.
This show deals with Alzheimer’s and there is even a claim by Dr. Perlmutter that it can be reversed or even cured. There are a lot of radical new ways to fight fatigue and other common ailments. This is one show that you must read about. The show originally aired on January 13,2012 and you can find our full recap by clicking here.
