Meanwhile, a separate study has found that when fruit flies are provided with inadequate diet, they get hyperactive. The hyperactive flies buzz around in look for food. The inadequate diet leads to production of AMP-activated kinase which boosts the discharge of adipokinetic hormone.
The process continuous until the fruit flies finds meal. The body of fruit flies releases insulin which is burned to make energy for the fruit flies until they get food to satiate their hunger. Investigator of the study, Johnson, said, “Since fruit flies and humans share 30 percent of the same genes . it suggests that this discovery could inform metabolic research in general and diabetes research specifically”.
