Hey everybody,
Today we’re doing something a little bit different. Instead of writing a post, I wanted to create one pointing out some of the best articles in the diabetic world that I’ve read this past week. If people like this, we may do a couple more of these as the weeks where on. That being said, here are three articles we feel are worth your time.
Number 1: Faustman’s Phase 1 findings were released last week, and have caused quite a fervor in the community. Perhaps one of the more fair and balanced articles on the subject is Faustman Lab Research: How Excited Should You Be? from A Sweet Life writer Catherine Price. It gives a good overview of the findings, Faustman’s goals, and where the research could eventually lead ( without much of the hyperbole pervading the subject).
Number 2: On the more serious side of the spectrum comes this heartfelt article by Mike Hoskins over at Diabetes Mine called At Least You Have Diabetes, And Not… After recent family tragedy, Mike is forced to re-think some of the hardships of diabetes. The article serves as a great reminder that although diabetes is a tough disease that we are actively trying to cure, we need remember how much more difficult the lives of people with other chronic disease can be.
Number 3: Last is this Wall Street Journal article that’s been making the rounds, Wrong Call: The Trouble Diagnosing Diabetes. The article discusses the growing instances of adults being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes based on their age, when what they really have is type 1 ( and the subsequent problems this causes). An interesting read, especially if you were diagnosed later in life.
Give all of these a read when you get the chance. We might do a few more of these round-ups in the future, so if you like what you read here today, comment below or on facebook and let us know.
Until Next Time
–Nick
