New age researchers have some good news for the Alzheimer patients. An efficient team, headed by Jack Jhamandas founded that a drug, AC253, developed for diabetes patients can help to protect patients of Alzheimer.
The research has further unveiled that genes and the toxic protein were concentrated on the part of the brain, which was more sensitive to memory, learning and cognition. Citing the veiled connection between Alzheimer’ and diabetes, Jhamandas claimed that the recent finding has established the fact that people suffering from diabetes are more likely to caught with Alzheimer.
Further, Jhamandas explained that presence of a common protein in the pancreas of diabetes patients and brain of Alzheimer’s patients, as the common connection between the two.
Though the drug AC253 was unsuccessful to cure the diabetes patients, the drug was able to halt the growth of culprit protein, found in the brain of Alzheimer patient.
Currently, the team is gearing up to conduct pilot test on the mice, before establishing any substantive proof in the field of human clinical trials. With the unexpected success lying on the heels, the team is expecting to probe the matter further so that people reeling under the scare of Alzheimer can be treated
