ASHTON — The Ashton community will host Miles of Mountains for the Cure, a bike ride to raise money to stop diabetes, on Saturday, September 17.
The ride has several components: three adult challenges and one youth challenge. All of the registration fees go directly to the American Diabetes Association to help fulfill ADA’s mission to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. This ride is organized by a Type 1 diabetic who rides along to show support.
Enjoy spectacular autumn foliage up close and personal on half, full, and ultimate rides. Donations are greatly appreciated for those who want to help, but not ride. You can donate at City Park on the event day, or on line at www.amachallenge.com .
All challenges (except kids) include a shirt and AMA Challenge water bottle.
Ultimate Challenge (100 Miles) – Ride the whole course twice (two laps), up Ashton hill, over rolling hills to the Mesa Falls scenic drive past the Upper and Lower Falls, down through Bear Gulch, then over more rolling hills (a couple 1/2 mile long uphills), to the gradual descent into Ashton. Registration fee is $40.
Full Challenge (50 Miles) – Ride the whole ride, up Ashton hill, over rolling hills to the Mesa Falls scenic drive past the Upper and Lower Falls, down through Bear Gulch, over more rolling hills (a couple 1/2 mile long uphills), to the gradual descent into Ashton.Registration fee is $30.
Half Challenge (30 Miles) – Start at the Mesa Falls scenic drive turnoff, past the Upper and Lower Falls, down through Bear Gulch, then ride over more rolling hills (a couple 1/2 mile long uphills), to the gradual descent into Ashton. Registration fee is $20.
Kid Challenge (Around City Park) – Kids wants to ride too, so there will be a casual ride around the park catered just for their age and ability. Each kid can big wheel, ride a bike or scooter, walk, or even pull a wagon and feel the joy of crossing the same finish line as the “big people,” so bring the whole family for this event. Every registered kid rider will receive an AMA Challenge water bottle. Registration fee is $10.
