LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) Every year, more than 36,000 people are diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and there’s still no cure.
Saturday, more than 4,000 people walked to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The walk started at Murray Park and went over the Big Dam Bridge. The event is also a celebration of the past several months of fundraising efforts through businesses and schools.
Many of the walkers say they participated in honor of their family members.
“I have 2 children who are Type One so the walk means everything to me, and we’re down here to find a cure for diabetes and we will continue to be here until we cure it,” says Wayne Moore.
The foundation met today’s fundraising goal of $350,000. Pharmaceutical companies also provided free diabetes supplies and information on the disease.
