I worked a bariatric surgical floor for 2 yrs, post bypass, pt stopped needing insulin and sugar levels fell as did blood pressure, with in 24hrs. Maybe stomach senses something or part of fast preop and just the surgical procedure limiting food intake, simple answer, but, I saw it for myself almost daily. People didn’t crave food, either, stayed with diet/limited and weren’t dehydrated either. they just overall felt good and I didn’t recognize them 6 mo later! Totally different person and personality. They were very fortunate and lucky as they were running out of options.
