Hi everyone,

At the JDCA we are always expanding our reach and adding new information and knowledge about the type 1 diabetes world to our database – and so today we updated our Frequently Used Terms to include some of the most important topics we are concerned with in our quest to help the major charity foundations find a cure for type 1 within our lifetime, or before 2025.

Besides our definitions of Practical and Idealized Cure, which most of our members are familiar with, we have also added a listing of the four major Charitable Universe/Charities/Non-profits that we follow and report on a frequent basis, including the American Diabetes Association, Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, JDRF and Joslin Diabetes Center.

The other big players in the diabetes industry are the Commercial Enterprises:  A for-profit business or organization whose primary goal is to generate a return on investment for shareholders.

The topic of Prevention has also been a big one for us in recent months – in our FUTs, we explain again why we do not believe an approach focused solely on prevention will be beneficial for people currently living with type 1 diabetes.

And, of course, we focus on what makes all the non-profit foundations function and what makes our dreams for a cure still possible – Donor Contributions. Without the generous donations of people with diabetes and their friends and families, we would have very little hope of ever finding a cure.

Make sure to check out our updated Frequently Used Terms with more comprehensive definitions at our website.

What other terms would you like us to include? What are you most interested in? Let us know!
