Eau Claire (WQOW) – The weather was perfect today, for the eighth annual walk to cure diabetes.

The event was held at Carson Park Sunday afternoon. Hundreds of walkers take steps every year to stomp out Type 1 diabetes.  They raised over $40,000 Sunday to help find a cure. According to the American Diabetes Association, more than 25 million people in the US have diabetes.

“Diabetes is hard so we need this cure for these children from the age of two to how old… It’s just a struggle with all the finger pokes so we need a cure,” says Katie Rhoten, who has Type 1 diabetes.

Our own Jerry Gallagher was the honorary chairperson and emcee of Sunday’s walk.
