When a charity merges two heavily attended events into one, well that’s a lot of sizzle.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s One Hot Night on Palm Beach took place Feb. 4 at the Four Seasons Resort and marked the merger of Gem of An Evening the traditional Palm Beach event, with the less formal One Hot Night.

The night began with a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by dinner, a Tiffany raffle, a live auction, the Fund For A Cure donation call, and dancing.

Renee Kay and Lisa Kimmelman, mothers of children with Type 1 (juvenile, insulin-dependent) diabetes, were chairwomen for the event.

Proceeds from the event assist the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation — which will now be known simply as JDRF — in its mission to improve the lives of people with Type 1 diabetes until a cure is found.
