Preliminary results from ongoing research been conducted by the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) on a herbal contortion that has been called, the miracle cure and dispensed as a HIV/AIDS curative by retired Pastor Ambilikile Msapila, has showed no such effects on the virus nor on diabetes as claimed it would by the Pastor.

Minister of Health and Social Welfare Dr. Hussein Mwinyi informed the National Assembly in Dodoma yesterday when tabling his budget estimates for the financial year 2012/2013 which amounted to some 581,674,066,000/-.

Dr. Mwinyi said that the research was conducted to compare patients with diabetes and HIV/AIDS who have taken the blend versus a control group. The study that commenced in March this year and involved 200 patients had no promising outcome.

“The preliminary findings show no difference in the laboratory tests, blood, CD4, weight and quality of life of patients remains unchanged…” explained the minister.

Early last year many flocked to the Samunge village in Loliondo, Arusha in pursuit of the said cure which is supposed to remedy many an ailment and in the list are chronic diseases such as diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, cancer and yes, even HIV/Aids.

Rev. Masapila, has an explanation for his claim and it is not a medical report from WHO or even Dar es salaam university traditional medicine research department no, it is from a much higher source.

As far as the reverend is concerned, the formular is the result of a sublime and divine intuition that instructed him on material, procedure and the very dosage.

“God instructed me…through dreams…since 1991…it will heal people with chronic illnesses…” explains the Masalipa. The dream kept recurring to him several times since then and sometime in August of 2010 he answered the calling.

HIV/Aids stakeholders have condemned the government over its prolonged silence on the matter, all the while HIV/Aids patients are abandoning antiretroviral drugs to take the herbal concoction being dispensed by Pastor Masapila in Loliondo.

It is not all doom and gloom when it comes to the good reverence herbal mix on the contrary, another report by experts from both NIMR’s Department of Traditional Medicine Research and the Muhimbili University Health and Allied Sciences says, findings have revealed that ‘Babu’s miracle cure’ (boiled carissa edulis roots) is safe and has positive effects on cancer, epilepsy, herpes simplex virus, liver ailments, diabetes, blood pressure and anti-viral activity.
