Before modern medical treatments were developed, diabetics died. There were no “natural” cures. Every now and then, some herb or supplement makes the news, and raises the hopes of diabetics, but upon rigorous testing, the benefits are shown to be either nonexistent or minimal.

There are ways to help control diabetes, and I suppose that some would be considered natural. For instance, aerobic exercise is very good for diabetics. Eating moderate amounts of complex carbohydrates is also good, as complex carbs won’t raise the blood sugar nearly as quickly as simple carbs do. I told my endocrinologist that I avoid processed foods as much as possible, and he highly approves of this, as processed foods tend to have a lot of hidden sugar and salt.
