The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s (JDRF) Walk to Cure will take place Feb. 19 at Crossroads Mall in Waterloo at 9 a.m.
The JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes is one of the fastest growing fundraising events in the world.
Each year over 500,000 people “Walk for a Cure.”
Funds are raised by individual and team walkers obtaining donations from family, friends, coworkers and neighbors.
Corporate, regional and local sponsors also donate to JDRF. Last year, over $100 million was raised wordwide for diabetes research and research education.
Locally, JDRF’s Eastern Iowa Walk sites welcomed over 8,000 walkers and raised over $800,000.
There are two Readlyn youth that will walk on Feb. 19 with family and friends in the Walk to Cure Diabetes.
Jake Lien has formed a team called Jake’s Troopers and Brandi Marticoff has formed a team called Brandi’s Bunch.
Jake and Brandi want to raise money to support the research required to find a cure.
