Today, I’m struggling with what to talk about. Mainly because I can’t actually say anything about the things I want to talk about.
Externally, things have been quiet lately around the JDCA. Our last report went out a few weeks ago (which I encourage you to check out here), but apart from that and our facebook postings, all has been quiet to the outside world.
Inside, we’re a beehive of activity and change. One of our newest changes is adopting Dr. Faustman’s research as a possible Practical Cure ( for more info, check out this blog). We’re also completely re-doing our website, outlining several ideas for new ways donors can help push for a practical cure, and are in the midst of a bunch of other initiatives that I’m not exactly allowed to talk about at the moment.
All of this presents me with the problem of not having all too much write because all of the exciting stuff we’re working on isn’t something I can discuss yet. So instead, today I’ll point you in the direction of two news items you may find of interest.
On the inspirational end is Team Type 1, a mountain-biking group who goes around the world competing in major competitions and cleaning house. As I write this they’re finishing their last day in Boulder, Colorado, and on Monday morning we’ll know how well they did. Always inspiring to see a group of diabetics finding success in such a physical field.
On the other end of the spectrum is the news of higher restrictions on “conflict of interest” reporting being put on several major US charitable foundations. We wrote about this briefly, but it bears repeating that measure like this can only help increase accountability and transparency among charitable organizations.
