MUNCIE — Pat L. Smith, owner of build, LLC, is offering a collection of sports-themed windows and doors to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Smith’s son, Eric, was diagnosed as a Type 1 diabetic at the age of 23 while serving as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps, prompting her to find a way to support the foundation in its mission to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes, according to a press release.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of every Sports Collection window or door will be donated to the JDRF.

Just in time for Super Bowl XLVI is the inaugural Commemorative Edition 2012 window named “The End Zone” which is now available for bid on eBay. All the proceeds from the sale of this first in a series custom-designed football window will be divided between the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and local Southside government teacher, Julie Snider, to support her ambition of taking 24 high school seniors to Washington, D.C., this spring.

Other designs in the Sports Collection of Windows Doors benefiting the JDRF include: “Fore the VIEW,” “The Nothing but Net,” “The Home Run” and “The Spike.”

Every window that is sold will research into a cure for juvenile diabetes, which affects more than 3 million Americans, with more 30,000 new cases diagnosed each year. For more information about JDRF go to www.jdrf.org
