In the blog post from a couple of days ago, we listed some of the main things that make The Juvenile Diabetes Cure Alliance a unique organization – and identified our dedication to pursuing a type 1 cure as one of them.

There are several reasons why our organization is focused solely on this pursuit – one of them is because we believe such an exclusive dedication allows us to maximize our chances of helping facilitate a type 1 cure within the next 15 years, or by 2025.

Another major reason, however, is that we believe this is precisely why people donate money to type 1 fundraisers, why they walk the walks, why they get family, relatives and friends involved, and why the diabetes community participates in the events so heavily, helping the foundations raise hundreds of millions of dollars every year.

People are not donating for a better pump, or for a prevention technique that might benefit people in the future but will never address the problems for those currently living with diabetes. Most of the people who donate to cure fundraisers do so for that specific reason – they want a cure for type 1 diabetes, and they want it in their lifetimes, so that they or their loved ones can experience a life free from the disease.

We will be posting a report of our results at a later date, but for now we are still trying to get as many opinions as possible so that we can present the most relevant and accurate data – that is why we will be very thankful if you take a minute and complete our Donor Intentions survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/F3MQJYG

The more we know, the more helpful we can be, and the better we can inform the diabetes community of the latest news and information surrounding a type 1 cure.
