As our alliance grows and we become a more vocal advocate for a type 1 diabetes cure, we encounter people that are not so familiar with the JDCA and have questions about who we are and what our mission is.
For that purpose, we always want to make sure that we discuss our unique model of operation and purpose.
§ The JDCA is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization focused solely on facilitating the delivery of a Practical Cure for type 1 diabetes by 2025.
§ The JDCA is unique among type 1-related organizations because we provide independent and objective research and analysis on several major type 1 charitable research foundations/organizations
§ We do not solicit donations and do not charge for any of our services (alliance membership, report, donor action resources)
§ The JDCA neither solicits nor accepts outside contributions. The JDCA’s operations are funded entirely by a charitable foundation created by our Founder, Brian Kelly. Additionally, no money is raised for the purpose of re-distribution to type 1 research organizations
o It is our sole mission to direct donor contributions to the charitable organizations that most effectively fund research with the goal of delivering a type 1 Practical Cure by 2025
The JDCA is also the only purely independent non-profit organization focused on advocating for a cure for type 1 diabetes. We believe that this direction makes us unique in the diabetes industry, and gives us and our alliance members the power to bring about something new and hopefully really influence the diabetes foundations to focus more on the ultimate dream of million of diabetics in the US and around the world – to find a cure.
We are more than happy to answer any questions you have about the JDCA – just write us an email at info@thejdca.org !
