Gary B:

Not “soon”.

The reason there is no cure is because scientists don’t know what CAUSES Type 1 Diabetes. The best guess right now is an auto-immune disease, like Lupus or Psoriasis. What happens is that your body sees your pancreas as a “foreign invader”, and tries to kill it.

And scientists just plain don’t know how that mechanism works. When they find out, there will be a LOT of diseases cured, including Type 1 Diabetes, Lupus (a very painful and debilitating disease), and the disfiguring Psoriasis.

I just heard of a company in Indiana who JUST went into Clinical Trials for a CURE for Type 1 Diabetes. Clinical Trials is when they first use human patients instead of animals. The idea is to see if the “cure”: is safe AND effective in humans. if, at any time the “cure” doesn’t work in humans, or make the patient sicker instead of better, the trials will be stopped and the whole project will be thrown aways as “useless”.

Clinical trials take MANY years. They work in three “stages”, and each stage takes from 3 to 10 years to complete. IF all the stages pass, the “cure” will be sent to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for approval. The FDA must read and study 30,000 to 100,000 PAGES of reports! it often take 5-7 years to get an “approval”.

IF this new “cure” from Indiana works it will be 25-30 YEARS before it is available for doctros to use.

MAYBE you could be a part of the trial, letting scientists use YOUR body for experiments! go to
