Walk to Cure Diabetes on Sunday at Calf Pasture
NORWALK — The Fairfield County chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will hold its annual fall “Walk to Cure Diabetes” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9, at Calf Pasture Beach. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Kevin Canavan, executive director of the JDRF, says that more than 1,200 attendees are expected to participate in the walk to raise to raise money for diabetes research.
Special guests include newscaster Kristen Cusato from News 8, U.S. Rep. Jim Himes, and Norwalk Mayor Richard Moccia. D.J. Jim Nuzzo, from Dance to the Music, will provide music for the event and activities for the children include a bounce house, giant slide, and obstacle course. The Darien Lions Club will also be selling hamburgers, donated from Shop Rite. All proceeds go to the JDRF.

Christian Community Action, Norwalk is in need of volunteers to help with daily food distribution from the food pantry. which is open from 9:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday and one Saturday each month. Volunteers make sure the shelves are stocked and then collect and bag the food. Volunteers also take care of food donations and help place these items on the pantry shelves. They also have an ongoing need for furniture movers to pick up used furniture from donors and deliver . . .
