The 11th annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation 5k Walk to Cure Diabetes is set for Saturday, June 11 at Kings Island.

The 3.1-mile course takes walkers around the perimeter of the Mason amusement park, offering walkers rarely seen views of many popular park attractions, said Don Helbig, Kings Island spokesman.

Registration begins the day of the walk at 7 a.m. with the walk starting at 8 a.m.  Food, children’s activities, entertainment, music and health screenings will be offered after the walk.

Participants are encouraged to raise pledges with a variety of incentives offered, including single-day admission to the park.

Proceeds benefit JDRF’s work in advancing diabetes research and helping those who struggle with type 1 diabetes.  Since 2001, the JDRF 5k Walk at Kings Island has raised more than $7 million.

Kings Island is at 6300 Kings Island Drive.  For more information, go to www.jdrf.org.
